                    「主体的に」＝「独りで」ではありませんよ
     1，2年生は来週から始まる学年末考査に向けてラストスパートです。皆さんの声を聞くと、以前よ
   りも早くにテスト範囲の見直しが終わったり、課題から逃げず、少しずつでもちゃんと手を動かせてい
   たりする様子が伝わり、成長を感じます。考査に向けて掲げる目標点数も高くなってきました。まずは一
   緒に学ぶ仲間の雰囲気が重要であり、その雰囲気を作る責任は他人ではなく自分自身にあります。
     さて、学ぶ雰囲気作りはもちろん、受験に向けて志望校を決定し、学習計画を立てていくにあたり、
   「主体的に」取り組むことは大切です。周りにつられて動く、先生の指示を待って動く、保護者の方に
   言われてから動く…。これは裏返せば、自分以外の人のアクションがなければ何もしない状態でもありま
   す。「主体的に」とは、「自分軸で」動くということです。ただし、このようなことを言われる度に見放さ
   れたような、独りぼっちで不安な気持ちになる人もいるかもしれません。それがいつまでも「主体的に」
   なれない原因です。忘れないでほしいのは、「主体的に」とは、自分の目標や現在の学習状況を他人にも
   わかるように話し、そこで自分に役立つ情報を得ること、助けを求めることも含みます。目標がみつから
 なければ、先輩や先生など目標を見つけた人の経験談を「主体的に」聞きにいきましょう。
 
   2月中旬となり、3年生の合否結果が少しずつ明らかになっています。ここ数年合格していなかった大学
 や学部に合格し、後輩に Pave the way（道を拓く）を果たしてくれた先輩もいます。しかし入試はまだま
 だここから、2月末の前期試験3月の後期試験にむけて健闘中です。校長先生をはじめ、各先生方の声を
 聞くと、合格した人が報告に来てくれるのはもちろん、不合格であった場合も「お世話になりました。次こ
 そは頑張ります。」と挨拶に来てくれているようです。これも「主体的な」行動の1つです。このような姿
 を想像すると、
             「次こそは合格しますように！」と共に願う気持ちに力がこもります。また、合格発表日に
 緊張して結果を待っている担任の先生の姿を見ても同じく胸が熱くなります。このように、皆さんの「主
   体的な」行動が起こす波紋は、知らないうちに自分の見えない範囲まで伝わって、あなたを応援する力
   に変わっています。人事を尽くして、最後はそういう力に頼り感謝できる受験生になれるといいですね。

   3年の窓
   ALT のハリーに、高校時代の受験（共通テストに相当する”A-Level”）についてのエッセイを書いてもらいました。英検2
 級程度（高校卒業程度）の英文で記載してありますので、是非辞書片手に読んでみましょう。
 
 About 6 and a half years ago, aged 17, I took my ‘A-Levels’  the final set of exams before entering university in the UK.
 This was the final stage. I had chosen which university I wanted to attend and which course I wanted to study. Now all I
 had to do was pass the exams. To add to the pressure, I had to retake 3 exams from the previous year. I did poorly in
 those exams because I spent too much time playing video games! This meant I had almost double the exams compared
 with other students. I made flashcards for each subject, trying to remember important pieces of information (some are
 still stuck in my head!). It was the hardest I had ever studied. I’m proud that despite finding it hard to be motivated to
 study, when the important time came, I could do it. Thankfully I got good grades and got accepted into my chosen
 university.
 That stressful time is fresh in my memory. So, I really empathise with what 3rd year students are going through right
 now! I think the Japanese High School university entrance exams are harder than British ones. There seems to be a lot
 of difficult subjects to study. My ‘A-Levels’ were all subjects I had chosen  so I was interested in them. Perhaps there
 are some subjects that 3rd years students are not interested in  but they still must study them.
 I have four pieces of advice for 3rd year students. Firstly, set realistic goals when studying. Don’t try to do too much at
 one time! Break things down into simple activities. For example, if you’re revising for a history exam, don’t try to
 remember everything - focus on 3 or 4 key points. Second, make a timetable for studying. I work best in the morning
 and find it difficult to work after dinner. So, I tried to schedule my studying in the morning more than in the evening. If
 possible, try to study when you work best. Third, take breaks! It’s very important. If you try to study without taking a
 break, it won’t work. Go for a walk, chat to a friend, drink some tea. Refresh your mind before coming back to study.
 Last, make sure you rest. Getting lots of sleep is important to study effectively. This is most important the night before
 the big exam!
 Remember that even if you don’t do as well as you wanted  you can only try your best. The exams are important, but
 your life won’t depend on them! If you don’t do as well as you hoped, opportunities will still come your way. Try not to
 stress too much.

 2年の窓                                               成功者になろう！
   先日、バスケット部のミーティングでも話した内容ですが、みなさんは成功者になりたいですか？受験、
 部活、仕事…。挙げればキリがありませんが、何事に対しても、失敗するより、成功した人間になりたいと
 思う感覚はきっと普通だと思います。
   アメリカの UCLA 大学（超強豪校）の監督にジョンウッデンという人がいました。彼は選手たちに常日頃か
 ら「勝て！」「相手を打ち負かせ！」という言葉は一切使わず、「成功者になれ」という言葉を投げかけてい
 ました。そんな彼の中の“成功”の定義は一般的な成功とはちょっと違います。それは「成功とは、ベストを
 尽くしたことで得られる満足感であり、全力を出さないことこそが失敗である。」スポーツなど何事にも自分
 の出せる最大限の努力をすることで「やりきったー」「もうこれ以上はむりだ」という感覚を味わうことが成功
 であるということです。自分たちが最大限の努力をし続ければ、勝利や優勝などの結果はあとから勝手に
 ついてくるオマケみたいなものです。また、彼は「最高の自分になるために全力を尽くした者こそ成功者
 だ」とも言っています。
   自分にとっての最高の姿、そこへ向かうための最大限の努力、これを尽くし満足感を得られるように
 日々の行動を改めて考えてほしいです。
   2年生のみなさんの残りの高校生活は約1年間です。高校を卒業するときの最高の自分の姿を思い描
 き、それに向かって出せるすべての力を注いでほしいと思います。 1年後にむかえる卒業の日には、全
 員が晴れやかな高校生活の成功者として旅立ってほしいと願っています。

 1年の窓 by TAKAHASHI
 
  I think it is important that we should try to challenge something in life.
  I decided to write my article in English because I read the essay written by ALT in English in the front
 of this letter. I’m not good at English, but I like it. When I was a junior high school student, I liked both
 Mathematics and English. I have ever been camping with some foreign people. It was very fun!! I got 3rd
 grade, but I found it hard to read a long sentence in English after entering high school, so I didn’t try to
 get 2nd grade. I regret that I didn’t take the examination.
 
  Now, in spite of writing in English with my concentration, but there are only 6 lines….SHOCK!!(>_<)
 
  I wonder if I should write….
 
  Talking about a challenge, I have something to want to challenge. I want to observe the aurora in
 Finland, Iceland and Canada. Aurora is a natural phenomenon called a curtain of light. Plasma of solar
 wind come flying along magnetic field lines of the earth, and collide against atoms contained atmosphere,
 and emit light.
 
  Besides, I want to sing a song on stage, ‘Ave Maria’, ‘Memory’, ‘Over The Rainbow’ and so on. When I was in
 college, I belonged to the chorus club. I just like singing but I’m not good to it. It feels good to be able to sing well in front
 of many people.
 
 
  I wish everyone to challenge many things. You may make many mistakes like this article.
